1. Agreement
By using GarageHQ ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. The Service is provided by GarageHQ UK Ltd ("we", "us", "our"), a company registered in England and Wales.
2. The Service
GarageHQ is a vehicle management platform that helps you track MOT, tax, insurance, service history, mileage, and garage appointments. We integrate with the DVLA Vehicle Enquiry Service and the DVSA MOT History Service to provide vehicle data, and with a third-party provenance data partner to provide the vehicle history check feature (described in section 5 below).
3. Accounts
- You must provide accurate information when creating an account
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account
- You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service
- One person or legal entity per account
4. Subscriptions and billing
- New accounts get a 14-day trial with full feature access. No card is required at signup.
- After the trial ends you must either subscribe to a plan or run individual vehicle history checks on a pay-as-you-go basis. Inactive accounts are read-only until you do one or the other.
- Subscription plans are billed monthly via Stripe.
- Pay-as-you-go vehicle history checks (currently £13.99 per check) are charged at the time of purchase via Stripe.
- You may cancel at any time; access continues until the end of the billing period.
- Subscriptions are non-refundable for partial months unless required by applicable law.
- We may change pricing with 30 days' notice given via email.
5. Vehicle history checks
GarageHQ's vehicle history check feature returns a report on a UK-registered vehicle covering signals including (but not limited to) stolen-register status, insurance write-off category, outstanding finance, mileage anomalies, previous keepers, plate and colour changes, import / export markers, and full MOT history.
- Provenance data (stolen, write-off, finance, keepers, mileage anomalies, plate changes) is supplied by a third-party data partner (currently Total Car Check). DVLA and DVSA data is supplied by the corresponding UK government services.
- Each report reflects the data available to our partners at the moment the check is run. A vehicle reported as stolen, written off, or financed after a check is run will not appear on a previously-issued report.
- We do not warrant the accuracy or completeness of third-party data and make no representation that any report is exhaustive. Decisions about purchasing a vehicle should be cross-referenced with other sources, including direct contact with the registered keeper, the relevant finance lender, and a physical inspection of the vehicle.
- If our partner cannot return data for a registration (the check fails or comes back empty), Stripe automatically refunds the charge in full. Where partial data is returned, the report is supplied as-is and is not eligible for refund on completeness grounds.
- Reports are stored on your account for the lifetime of the account (subject to your right to delete individual reports or the account itself per section 9). After account deletion, payment records are retained on Stripe's side for accounting purposes (HMRC reporting requirements) but the report content is removed from our systems.
- Conversion credit (the discount applied when a pay-as-you-go user subscribes from the report page) is offered for a limited time after each check completes. Subscribing outside that window means the credit is no longer available, but the standard subscription is still available at the published rate.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to access other users' data
- Interfere with the operation of the Service
- Reverse engineer or copy the Service
- Use the Service to store data unrelated to vehicle management
7. Data accuracy
Data from the DVLA, the DVSA, and our third-party provenance partner is provided as-is. While we strive for accuracy, we are not responsible for errors in source data. MOT and tax dates, and any signal in a vehicle history check report, should be verified independently before making purchase or other significant decisions.
8. Liability
The Service is provided "as is" without warranty. We are not liable for any missed MOT, tax, or insurance deadlines, even if the reminder system fails. We are not liable for losses arising from reliance on a vehicle history check report, including where a signal that should have appeared was not returned by our data partner. Always verify independently.
Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
9. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms. You may delete your account at any time through the settings page, or by emailing us to invoke your GDPR Article 17 right to erasure.
10. Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be communicated via email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
